She is the founder of Yoni Zambia (a group of companies including Yoni Spa) and WEEP (Women’s Economic Empowerment Program). She’s young, ambitious and has a heart of gold. We catch up with Alina Karimamusama.
Alina Lee Ntombirayi Khumbirayi Mwiya Musonda Nakamba Karimamusama… Yes, that is one person’s name {and I thought I had many names!! Everybody in her family basically clearly wanted to name her!!}
“I always felt that I served a purpose bigger than myself but what that purpose was I didn’t know…“
Her grandfather was Shona and she was later told a story that there is an African belief that when a child has so many names, the ancestors believe that there will be some greatness attached to that child, and so, therefore, everyone wants to get their names attached to that child. The ancestors were clearly right in this case. At 22, Alina has achievements under her belt and wisdom most three times her age would be blessed to have {I certainly would!!}.
