The World Health Organisation has declared the coronavirus outbreak as a global pandemic.

In response to the pandemic, the South African Government has declared a national state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act.

As of today, 62 cases of coronavirus infections have been confirmed by the South Africa Ministry of Health.

ZASA views the coronavirus outbreak in a serious light. We therefore strongly encourage our members to observe the protocols, guidance and advice as provided by the South African Government.

We currently have no case of a Zambian regarding coronavirus.

We encourage our members to practice the following;

Social Distancing

  • No shaking hands
  • No hugs
  • Self Isolation (if necessary)
  • Avoid large gatherings

Good Hygiene

  • Wash hands regularly
  • Operate in a good environment

Seek Medical Assistance when you have the following symptoms

  • Cough
  • Runny noise
  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Sore throat

We also strongly advise our members against sharing fake news and misinformation regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Misinformation can lead to panic and anxiety.

We urge our members to remain calm and continue to exercise good personal hygiene.

We thank you.

ZASA Secretary-General
