The Zambian Governance Foundation for civil society (ZGF) recently launched a fundraising campaign to help send children to school in Namanongo community of Rufunsa District in Zambia. Through the Community Education Endowment Fund established by the local community, the community will invest in local children’s education so that more pupils can complete secondary school and attain tertiary education.

In the Namanongo community, many pupils drop out of school after completing primary education as they fail to pay school fees for secondary education. The transition from lower to higher educational levels is not as automatic as it should be due to the lack of resources. For secondary school, pupils are required to pay 200 Kwacha ($14 USD) as the tuition fee, an amount that is unaffordable for the majority of families in rural Namanongo. Thus, for the children in Namanongo community, the right to education remains a distant dream. Children bear the brunt of growing up in poverty, but they are neither responsible for, or in control of, their economic circumstances.

Your gift to Namanongo Community Education Endowment Fund can make a difference in the lives of girls and boys who dream of a brighter future. You can make your donation to our crowdfunding page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Namanongo. If you cannot give but still want to support our cause, please share our page with your friends, family and coworkers. The team at the Zambian Governance Foundation and Namanongo community would want to thank you in advance for your support.
