Our focus from the beginning has been on speaking to Zambians living abroad about financially supporting loved ones back home and how they can safely do so. In truth, there are actually a lot of Zambians back home supporting loved ones abroad and you are the ones we want to talk to this month.
There are a number of reasons why you send money but whatever the reason, you would like to make sure it gets to its destination with little to no fuss, and does so without costing you an arm, a leg and maybe a kidney.
In this month’s article, we focus on the process of sending money from Zambia to other countries and give you some vital info on documentation you’ll need, the registration process, where you can go in Zambia to send and list the collection points in each destination country just to make things that much easier. The countries we have focused on here are Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The process is simple and the agents on duty will walk you through it from start to finish. Take along your passport/ID. You will also be advised how the recipient can collect the money in the destination country and you will know exactly how much the whole transaction will cost you at the point of sending.
You can read the full article in Issue 30 (March 2018) of ZASA Magazine to understand the context of this post, it is supplementary material.
