The International Diplomatic Spouses Association (IDSA) in Pretoria have elected Mrs. Monde Mwamba, spouse to Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba, as President of the association.

Mrs. Monde Mwamba takes over from her counterpart, Abeda Chowdhury of Bangladeshi. Before that the position was held by Israel.

IDSA South Africa is an organization comprising spouses of diplomats accredited to South Africa.

South Africa has the largest number of Diplomats in the world with over 138 countries accredited to the country and is only comparable to New York and Geneva.

South Africa also has other diplomatic, multilateral and trade missions accredited to it.

IDSA main objective is to promote cultural and social interchange between members of the diplomatic corps in South Africa.

The association extends assistance and support to various charitable organizations and cultivates a harmonious relationship and cooperative spirit among its members.

And Mrs. Mwamba has thanked members of the association for showing trust and confidence in her.

She said she was humbled by the gesture and will work hard during her tenure to fulfill objectives especially the charity work of the association.
