The law governing tenancy agreements in Zambia is the Landlord and Tenant (Business Premises) Act Chapter 193, Volume 12 of the Laws of Zambia which became effective on 1st January 1972.

The primary objectives of the Act are to provide security of tenure for tenants occupying property for business, professional and certain other purposes, and to enable such tenants to obtain new tenancies in certain cases − which provides for security of tenure for tenants occupying property for business, professional and certain other purposes, and to enable such tenants to obtain new tenancies in certain cases.
