Home Affairs Arresting Asylum Seekers and Refugees – Africa Diaspora Forum

Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is currently arresting asylum seekers and refugees who are going to renew their permits. This is purely an intimidation, so that people don’t renew their permits therefore become illegal and deported back to their countries. This is happening when people arrive at the centres.

The African Diaspora Forum (ADF) wants to address this issue.

Colleagues, if you know of anyone facing this situation,  currently arrested, who is in police custody or at Lindela repatriation centre, please kindly send us the details.

Hi, why do home affairs arrest in such a manner without listen them.

The intentions are unclear Musa, the ADF was calling for whoever had been affected to call for assistance. Thank you for the question actually, we’ll look into running a follow up story and ask both sides for comment.

What are your thoughts on this?

Provides a concise, informative and leisurely digest for Zambians in the Diaspora (well, anyone interested in Zambia really) that you can peruse on a Sunday afternoon while sipping on whatever it is that makes you smile :-)
